March 5, 2026, will mark 10 years since Grammy Museum® Mississippi opened its doors in Cleveland. To celebrate that milestone, the Museum is hosting a full slate of programming on anniversary weekend, including a Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band Benefit Concert on Saturday, March 7, at 7:30 pm hosted at Delta State University’s Bologna Performing Arts Center. Proceeds from the concert will benefit the Museum’s educational initiatives. The weekend is sponsored by Visit Mississippi, Mississippi Delta National Heritage Area, Mississippi Humanities Council, and Mississippi Arts Commission, in partnership from Delta State University. Additional sponsors will be announced soon.
The anniversary weekend officially begins with a special performance by Grammy®-winning country star Dwight Yoakam on Thursday, March 5, at Delta State’s Bologna Performing Arts Center. Tickets can be purchased at bolognapac.com.
The celebration will also include an anniversary ceremony on Saturday, March 7, followed by a Roots Music Festival that will feature performances by Grammy® Award winners Bobby Rush, Cedric Burnside, and Boo Mitchell, along with children’s activities and family-friendly programming. As the birthplace of America’s music, Mississippi’s cultural legacy will be highlighted throughout the weekend, aligning with the broader America250 commemoration. Grammy Museum Mississippi is thankful for the support of the Mississippi Humanities Council and the Mississippi Arts Commission, whose partnership helps make this programming possible.
“Over the past decade, we’ve welcomed visitors from around the world, provided thousands of students with meaningful music education experiences, and helped ensure that Mississippi’s role in shaping American music is honored and preserved for years to come,” said Emily Havens, Executive Director of Grammy Museum Mississippi. “It’s been incredible to see how our museum has inspired young people, honored legendary artists, and connected visitors to the deep roots of Mississippi music.”
“Reaching our 10-year anniversary is a powerful way to honor one of the most pivotal members of our community, the late Lucy Janoush,” added Havens. “Lucy was instrumental in bringing a Grammy Museum to Mississippi and we’re incredibly proud of what we built together. We’re looking forward to what the next decade will bring.”
“This celebration weekend is our way of saying thank you to the Cleveland community and to the individuals and businesses who have supported and believed in this Museum and its mission from the very beginning,” said Becky Nowell, Board President. “I’m looking forward to a fun and meaningful weekend celebrating the past 10 years and beginning the next decade together.”
“In just a decade, Grammy Museum Mississippi has grown from the vision of a few dedicated volunteers and leaders into a dynamic institution recognized for its educational programs, exhibitions, partnerships, and the strength of its board and staff,” said Myrtis Tabb, board member. “As we celebrate this milestone, we honor our past and the original visionaries who made it possible, while embracing a future and a story that is still being written. Looking ahead, we remain committed to innovation, education, and community, ensuring the Museum continues to evolve as a place of learning and celebration.”
