Early cooking? Watching and helping my dad cook, what he cooked came from family recipes

Who is your favorite cook/chef? A toss up between Jeff Robinson and Thomas Keller

What kitchen utensil/tool could you not live without? Left-handed spatula

What is the best thing about your job? Making people happy by doing what I love

What is your favorite flavor combo? Crazy core skittles

Three items in your fridge: Bomb pops, chicken salad, and a ½ case of Bud heavy

Where do you get your best recipe ideas? Black Family Reunion Cookbook, Larousse Gastronomique

What is the best meal you’ve ever eaten? Arnold’s Country Kitchen, Nashville, fried chicken plate and banana pudding.

Personal specialties: I can do 12 pull-ups while smoking a cig.

Favorite midnight snack? Roasted pork belly and Dunk-a-roos

Favorite kitchen music? During prep, I like it calm, so I’ll put on B.B. King or Norah Jones. During service, dirty, dirty rap.  During close, dub-step at max volume.

What herbs do you grow in your own garden? N/A… available upon request.

Where do you like to dine in Oxford? Blind Pig, Ravine, and Mama Jo’s

Favorite restaurant? Alinea, Chicago.

Fried catfish: Eat the tail or not? As long as it’s fried.
