The farewell season of WUMS 92.1 Rebel Radio’s hit show will begin streaming across airwaves on Wednesday, January 22
WUMS 92.1 Rebel Radio’s smash hit radio series “The Claylist” is set to air the first episode of its sixth and final season on Wednesday, January 22 at 1 pm.
The farewell season has been allotted for 14 episodes that will officially wrap up on Wednesday, April 30, meaning the series will have an impressive 82-episode run over its three years. The season’s theme and tagline will be “You’re Right Where You’re Supposed To Be.” Each episode will honor the people, city, and school that helped make “The Claylist” a reality, as well as offer words of wisdom from a graduating college senior — namely by the show’s host, Clay Hale, a UM senior integrated marketing communications major from Water Valley, Mississippi.
A few episode titles and themes include the reflective “My Life is a Country Song,” the final installment in a fan-favorite running theme “The Slaylist 4” and “You’re Right Where You’re Supposed To Be,” the series finale.
In addition to a full line of around eight to ten songs aligning with the week’s theme, there are three segments for listeners to enjoy.
The “underCLAYed” segment calls back to his first radio series and focuses on bringing awareness to the lack of female airplay on country radio; one song will be deemed the “underCLAYed” song of each week. Hale will also dedicate one song each week to someone that has supported “The Claylist” over its span in a segment called “Support Sponsor.” Each episode will kick off with a few new songs in a running segment called “What’s Hot?” in which new music from the week will be spotlighted.
Since “The Claylist’s” debut on August 24, 2022, it has proven to be a hit on the University of Mississippi campus and in the Oxford community. The show’s creator and host, Hale, has been a finalist for Favorite DJ/Emcee in Oxford in The Local Voice’s Townies for the last two years, coming in at No. 2 in 2025 and No. 3 in 2024. Hale was the only student DJ to be listed in the final listing for either year.
“This series has granted me the opportunity to be myself with the people on the Ole Miss campus and in the Oxford community. Rebel Radio was the first organization that I became a part of on campus, and I am just so honored and blessed for all of my years with the station,” Hale said. “My hope is that this show becomes a part of my legacy at Ole Miss, and when it does finally end, I hope that this show is remembered for its honesty, conversational tone, and ability to connect with listeners.”
Fellow WUMS 92.1 Rebel Radio student DJ Sophie Krumhansl, the host of “Kickin’ It With Krummy,” has followed the show since she became a student at the university.
“I think ‘The Claylist’ is an inspiration because it shows how meaningful music can be and how much we can learn from it,” Krumhansl said. “People should tune into the show because it showcases lots of great country artists with great songs. It also includes stories from DJ Clay, who really does a good job of pointing out the deeper meanings of songs and adds a personal touch to them.”
To tune into “The Claylist” each week, University, Oxford, and Water Valley locals can turn their radio dial to 92.1. Listeners can also download the RadioFX app and hear the show wherever they go.
