The Oxford School District Board of Trustees and Oxford School District today announced the retirement of Superintendent Bradley Roberson, effective June 30, 2026, concluding a distinguished career of more than 25 years of service to the students, families, staff, and community of Oxford.
Roberson shared his retirement decision with the Board of Trustees this week after dedicating most of his educational career to Oxford School District. Throughout his tenure, he served in a variety of leadership roles, including teacher, coach, principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent, leaving a lasting impact on generations of students and educators.
“Oxford School District has been my home for more than 25 years,” Roberson said. “When I became superintendent five years ago, I told many people it was my dream job. Looking back, I can honestly say it has been everything I hoped it would be and more. Serving alongside the dedicated employees, students, families, and community members of Oxford has been the greatest blessing of my professional life.”
Since becoming superintendent in 2021, Roberson has led the district through a period of significant growth and achievement. Under his leadership, Oxford School District strengthened student outcomes, improved district accountability ratings, expanded career and technical education opportunities, implemented districtwide standards-based learning practices, established a 3K program, and strengthened partnerships that support student success both inside and outside the classroom.
Board President, Carter Myers, praised Roberson’s leadership and commitment to the district.
“Mr. Roberson’s leadership has helped position Oxford School District as one of the premier school districts in Mississippi and beyond,” said Myers. “His unwavering focus on students, dedication to continuous improvement, and commitment to building strong relationships throughout our schools and community have left an enduring legacy. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we are deeply grateful for his service and leadership.”
Throughout his career, Roberson has been recognized as a visionary educational leader who consistently championed innovation, collaboration, and student-centered decision-making. His work helped establish Oxford School District as a model for continuous improvement and community-based accountability while maintaining a steadfast focus on preparing students for success in college, career, and life.
Reflecting on his career, Roberson expressed gratitude for the people who have shaped his journey.
“While I am proud of what we have accomplished together, what I will treasure most are the relationships,” Roberson said. “The friendships I have built, the lives I have been fortunate enough to touch, and the people who have impacted me along the way will stay with me forever. Oxford is a special place because of its people, and I will always be thankful for the opportunity to serve this community.”
The Board of Trustees will announce an interim superintendent next week, with a national search to follow. The Board and district leadership team will work closely together throughout the transition process to ensure continued stability, excellence, and support for students, employees, and families.
