Oxford, Mississippi Board of Aldermen Meeting Agenda for Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 5 pm

Notice that certain commission members will be included in the meeting via teleconference, subject to City of Oxford Code of Ordinances Section 2-82.

  1. Call to order.
  2. Adopt the agenda for the meeting.
  3. Mayor’s Report
  4. Authorize the approval of the minutes of the regular meeting on July 18, 2017 and the special meeting on July 19, 2017.
  5. Authorize the approval of accounts for all city departments.
  6. Consider the consent agenda:
    1. Request approval for the following taxi drivers: Brenda Hayes (Austin Taxi), Kelvin Buford (Zoe’s Taxi), Kody J. Turner (Zoe’s Taxi), Jermikka Jordan (Zoe’s Taxi), and Joshua Sherman (Q’s Taxi). (Joey East)
    2. Request permission to host a Mounted Patrol Trainer on August 8- 11, 2017, at a total cost of $951.00. (Joey East)
    3. Request permission for two officers to attend Downtown District Operations Training on August 10- 13, 2017, in Athens, GA, at a total cost of $309.00 plus per diem. (Joey East)
    4. Request permission for an OFD Captain to attend a Command & Control of FD Operations at Natural & Man-made Disaster class at the FEMA National Fire Academy on September 24- October 6, 2017, in Emmittsburg, MD, at an estimated cost of $265.00. The course is sponsored through FEMA funding and airline travel will be reimbursed. (Mark Heath)
    5. Request permission for one employee in the Human Resources Department to attend the KronosWorks Conference on November 12- 15, 2017, in Las Vegas, NV, at an estimated cost of $2,728.93. (Braxton Tullos)
    6. Request approval to hire two seasonal workers in the Environmental Services Department. (Braxton Tullos)
    7. Request approval to hire one seasonal worker in the Building and Grounds Department. (Braxton Tullos)
  7. Request permission for the Mayor to sign a location release for National Geographic to film in City areas.
  8. Citizens to address the board regarding Oxford-Lafayette Humane Society. (Katie Muldoon)
  9. Authorize appointments to the Planning Commission Board.
  10. Authorize an appointment to the Courthouse Square Historic Preservation Commission.
  11. Authorize appointments to the Historic Preservation Commission.
  12. Announce a vacancy on the Historic Preservation Commission.
  13. Authorize an appointment to the Pathways Commission.
  14. Announce a vacancy on the Pathways Commission.
  15. Authorize an appointment to the Oxford Tourism Council.
  16. Abandon unused electric utility easement on old Baptist Memorial Hospital property. (Pope Mallette)
  17. Declare a sweeper truck in the Building and Grounds Department surplus and authorize its sale on govdeals.com. (Greg Pinion/ Matt Davis)
  18. Request permission to accept the donation of a K-9 from Laurie Chism. (Joey East)
  19. Request permission to accept a donation of $25.00 from Lenora Rychlak for Crime Prevention. (Joey East)
  20. Request permission to sponsor a Law Enforcement Explorer Post. The Explorer Program is sponsored by Learning for Life, an affiliate of the Boy Scouts of America. (Joey East)
  21. Discuss after hour concrete pours for the U-Club Development. (Bart Robinson)
  22. Second reading and public hearing of a proposed Ordinance Amending Chapter 98 Article IV, Section 98-97, Section 98-98, and Section 98-99, Erosion Control. (Reanna Mayoral)
  23. Request permission to approve a final plat for Case #2208, “The Heights, Phase V”, for property located on Bourn Cove, further being described as a portion of PPINs #4502 & #4503. (Judy Daniel)
  24. Request permission to approve a final plat for Case #2209, “The Heights, Phase XVII”, for property located on Sweetgum Lane, further being described as a portion of PPIN #4503. (Judy Daniel)
  25. Discuss Kronos Workplace Advocacy Program and authorize the mayor to sign the contract. (Braxton Tullos)
  26. Authorize the Mayor to sign a development agreement for McCurdy Developments north of Oxford. (Bart Robinson)
  27. Discuss and/or authorize the amendment of the Construction Professional Agreement with ICM to expand duties to a Construction Manager role. (Bart Robinson)
  28. Consider an executive session.
  29. Recess.
