Anotherfest Fails to Keep Cleveland Boring

Keep Cleveland Boring’s sixth annual Anotherfest, the sister festival of Otherfest hosted in the fall, kicks off in Cleveland, Miss., Saturday, April 1, at 2 p.m. three venues, across downtown, host ten acts all hailing from Mississippi.

Venues hosting live music include Mississippi Grounds, Delta Meat Market, and Hey Joe’s. Two related events will also take place during Anotherfest: The first, Mural Mural on the Wall Festival which features various artists from around the region who will create mural designs throughout the day in the Hey Joe’s breezeway. The second, presented by Grammy Museum Mississippi, will include a performance by headliners Sweet Crude with opening acts Carrie Lynn Stanford and Scott’s House starting at 3:30 p.m.

Mississippi grounds is a family owned coffee shop in a renovated service station in the heart of Cleveland downtown. They host an elegant breakfast, lunch, and dessert menu. Delta Meat Market is run by Cleveland native Cole Ellis, they pride themselves on cooking, catering, and curing meats and vegetables. Young Valley, who were recognized as a “Top 10 Must See Act” in Mississippi by The ‘Sip Magazine. A Scarlet Empire, who got their start 11 years ago in the bean fields of Alligator, Miss. with a classically influenced progressive-rock sound.

“I’m really stoked for the fest. It’s gonna be my first time ever attending, let alone performing so I’m hoping to make it a swell time.” said Salar Almakky bassist of El Obo.

Other acts on the bill include a host of Mississippi favorites including Fides, rock n’ rollers from Jackson, Miss. who keep you listening with their psychedelic jams with heavy emotional lyrics.
