The Powerhouse will bring a familiar Christmas story to the stage in December, with auditions coming up later this month for a production of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.
Auditions are scheduled for 4 pm on Sunday, October 25, or 6 pm on Monday, October 26, at the Powerhouse. The production is seeking 10 adults and 17 youth actors ages 9 to 14. Actors of all ages, genders, and races are encouraged to audition.
The comedy follows a couple struggling to put on a church Christmas pageant after the Herdman children — described as some of the most notoriously misbehaved children around — take over the production. The Herdmans’ unexpected involvement turns the traditional Christmas story into a chaotic and humorous experience.
The show is appropriate for all ages.
Performances are scheduled for 6 pm on Thursday, December 3; 6 pm on Friday, December 4; and 2 pm and 6 pm on Saturday, December 5.
Those auditioning should complete an online audition form at https://www.theatreoxford.org/
Audition forms should be filled out by noon on the day of the audition; however, there will be physical forms to fill out at the audition if necessary. If you choose to fill out forms at the audition, arrive early in order to complete them.
Actors new to the audition process will be guided through the process.
Callbacks, if needed, will be by invitation from the director. A cast list will be sent by email on or before October 30. Minors must provide a valid parent or guardian email address on the audition form.
Rehearsals are scheduled Sunday through Wednesday evenings beginning November 1. Not all cast members will be needed at every rehearsal, but those called are expected to attend.
Tech week and dress rehearsals will be held November 30 through December 2 and will include crew integration, cue-to-cue work, and technical rehearsals. Attendance is required during tech week.
