Track & Field Posts Strong Showing At Arkansas Spring Invitational

Ole Miss won six events as they continued their strong start to the 2016 outdoor season at the Arkansas Spring Invitational in Fayetteville last weekend. Sophomore Raven Saunders won the title in shot put, discus, and hammer throws, despite first-year coach Connie Price-Smith’s claim that she didn’t have her best day. “Raven didn’t throw great by any means,” said Price-Smith, “but she’s throwing at such a level that she was able to win all three of them.” Saunders can currently claim the #1 spot in the entire NCAA in the shot put, and #3 in the discus on the young season. Other highlights included sophomore Dempsey McGuigan winning the hammer throw, the Rebel men’s only event victory at the meet. Additionally, Senior Khadijah Suleman won the 100 meters while coming in second in the 200. Her 11.39 finish in the 100 is the third-fastest time in Ole Miss history. The Local Voice Ligature
