The Lafayette County & Oxford Public Library 2022 Calendar of Activities

The Lafayette County & Oxford Public Library has been a hub for community gatherings and events for more than 90 years. And while the COVID-19 pandemic may have put a damper on the branches’ ability to host visitors, the library team is excited that in-person activities are now returning.

“We are so excited to be back and serving our community face-to-face,” said Sami Thomason-Fyke, Lafayette County & Oxford Public Library Youth Services Specialist. “We are looking forward to lots of events in 2022!”

These events include:

  • Baby Storytime: Hosted every Tuesday from 10:30 to 11 a.m. for caregivers and kids ages 0-24 months.
  • Bookworms Book Club: A book club for children ages 8-12 that meets every Wednesday from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
  • Earbuds: This podcast listening club for 7th to 12th graders meets every Thursday from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
  • Pokémon Playdate: This Pokémon club meets every second Monday of the month at 4:00 p.m.

In addition, the library will be partnering with various community organizations to host events throughout the year. On January 14, for example, the library will be joining forces with the Oxford Fiber Arts Festival to kick off the month-long event with a special fiber-themed storytime and craft.

“We love partnering with the community,” said Thomason-Fyke. “A lot of our activities for adults, for example, have been sponsored by the Oxford Community Market, including take and make recipes with fresh produce.”

In addition to these activities, the library also serves all daycares and schools in Lafayette County, providing in-person storytimes and visits from their youth staff.

“We love going to each school and meeting kids who may not have made it to the library otherwise,” said Thomason-Fyke.
