The Spring 2014 season will feature musical performances by artists including: The Mississippi Rail Company, Grace Askew, Bill Ellison, and a Hill Country Picnic Preview. And literary offerings by Willy Vlautin, Holly George-Warren, Kevin Young, plus a special tribute to late poet Jake Adam York.

Join host Jim Dees and our swinging house band, The Yalobushwhackers (featuring Jake Fussell on guitar, Slade Lewis on bass, Mark Yacovone on keys, and Wallace Lester on drums) for Thacker Mountain Radio in person or on your radio!

The Thacker Mountain Radio show can be heard live on Thursday nights on Rebel Radio (92.1 FM) and again each Saturday night state-wide on your local Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB) station (or at http://mpbonline.org/Programs/listen_live). Visit www.thackermountain.com for information on how to stream these broadcasts from your computer.

Thacker Mountain Radio was the brain child of two Southern Studies graduate students, Caroline Herring and Bryan Ledford, in 1996. Since then, with great support from Square Books’ Richard Howorth, our Thacker family, and the Board of Directors, the show has grown in scope to be syndicated statewide, supports a full-time executive director and produces nearly 30 shows each year in Oxford and various cities across the state.
