Suspect Arrested After Oxford Police Discover Victim with Fatal Gunshot Wound at Saddle Creek Drive

On April 29, 2022, at approximately 1:06 am, the Oxford Police Department was dispatched to the 600 block of Saddle Creek Drive for reported gunshots. Once on scene, officers located a victim suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. A suspect was identified quickly and taken into custody without incident.  

This is still an ongoing investigation and further details will be released at a later time.

Oxford Police Make Arrest for Murder on Saddle Creek Drive

The Oxford Police Department announced this afternoon the arrest of Justin Maurice Morris, 33 of Oxford, Mississippi. Morris has been formally charged with Murder and his bond has been set at $1 million by a Justice Court Judge

OPD received a 911 call from a neighbor in the 600 block of Saddle Creek Drive shortly after 1:00 am stating they heard yelling and then gunshots. Officers arrived and found Greteva Nicole Frierson, 29 of Oxford, Mississippi, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.

Officers quickly learned that Morris was suspected in the shooting death. He was found in the 400 block of Saddle Creek Drive and taken into custody without incident. While the investigation is still in the early stages it appears to be domestic violence in nature.  

“This is a senseless tragedy and our hearts go out to the children, family, and friends of Miss Frierson,” said Chief Jeff McCutchen
