Sophomore J.B. Woodman launched a two run homer in the bottom of the first to give Ole Miss all the runs it would need in a 4-1 victory over No. 1 Florida.

Christian Trent (4-1) retired the first eight batters he faced and gave up just one run on three hits in 6.1 innings of work.

Ole Miss (12-9, 2-2) added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth. Senior catcher Austin Knight had a two RBI single driving in freshmen third baseman Will Golson and sophomore shortstop Errol Robinson.

“This is the best we have played,” head coach Mike Bianco said. “We pitched really well and we defended great. We moved better tonight. We were aggressive in the field attacking the ball and trying to make plays. We looked more like ourselves tonight.”

“When you have two-plus innings left with a three-run lead, not only do you want a guy who’s going to fill it up and throw a lot of strikes, but you want a guy who’s going to make it difficult, and he does that,” Bianco said.

Ole Miss will face Florida (19-4, 2-2) again today at 1:30 pm. The game will be carried by the SEC Network +. Click here for the Box Score from last night’s game: Olemaha
