Oxford Man Arrested After Shooting Victim Multiple Times
On Sunday, January 24, 2021, the Oxford Police Department responded to the Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi’s emergency room to take a report of a male with multiple gunshot wounds. Upon investigation, it was determined that John Fremont Wallace (21 of Oxford, Mississippi) was identified as the suspect and taken into custody without incident.
Wallace was charged with two felony counts of Aggravated Assault and one count of Tampering with Physical Evidence. The victim’s injuries were not life threatening.
A Lafayette County Justice Court judge issued Wallace a bond of $100,000. This is still an ongoing investigation. No further details will be released at this time.
