On May 2, 2024, the Oxford Police Department took a walk-in report concerning a forged business check. After reviewing video evidence and investigating, the OPD CID unit was able to identify Elton Keith McCommon, 65, of Memphis, Tennessee, and obtained a warrant for his arrest on the charge of False Pretense. McCommon was taken into custody by Arkansas State Police in Crittenden County, Arkansas.
McCommon was taken before a Municipal Court judge and issued a $100,000 bond. OPD would like to thank the Arkansas State Police for locating McCommon.
The Oxford Police Department is housed 715 Molly Barr Road. The department has more than 70 full-time officers and staff and provides a wide range of protection and enforcement services.
The Police Department has a community-oriented policing philosophy and provides around-the-clock patrols.
