Yalobusha County Sheriff’s Department’s deputies responded to the 4000 block of County Road 224 in Yalobusha County, Mississippi, just before lunch on Thursday, May 8, 2025, for a disturbance with weapons.
When deputies arrived an armed male came outside pointing a handgun at law enforcement saying they would have to kill him, before returning inside the home. Water Valley Police Department responded and a perimeter was quickly set.
Lafayette County and Oxford SWAT teams made scene and were able to take Zachary Beard into custody without incident after hours long standoff.
