Tyler Ownes, 23 years old of Oxford, Mississippi.
On March 4, 2025, Deputies with the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Highway 6 West due to the vehicle traveling at night without their headlights on. Deputies conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle due to the odor of marijuana emitting from inside of the vehicle.
During the search, deputies located a handgun in the vehicle. Both the driver and passenger were both previously convicted felons. As a result, Tyler Ownes, 23 years old of Oxford, Mississippi, and Tarian Draper, 20 years old of Holly Springs, MS, were both arrested for Felon in possession of a firearm.
Owens and Draper were booked into the Lafayette County Detention Center. A MDOC hold was placed on both individuals.
Draper and Owens both appeared before a Justice Court Judge on Thursday, March 6, 2025 and each issued a $15,000.00 bond.
