Sleep in Heavenly Peace’s (SHP) mission statement is “No kid sleeps on the floor in our town” and our 400 local chapters have built and delivered 350,000 beds for kids without them.
Around 3-4% of kids in America are bedless, which means there could be 282 bedless kids in Lafayette County (let alone our broader area that we’d like to eventually serve).
In only 4 months, our new local SHP chapter has built and delivered 35 beds, which is fantastic. But given that they currently have 47 unmet requests, SHP needs your help and this bed build will help them catch up.

In addition to serving kids without beds, this endeavor also serves the soul of the community, providing a powerful volunteer opportunity to build and deliver beds, build community, and grow in our service journeys.
On July 18th from 8-11 am, there will be a bed build at the Old Armory Pavilion presented by Army of Normal Folks Oxford and Yoknapatawpha Arts Council.
They are looking for 40 volunteers, and you can signup on this event page, kids are welcome (there’s roles they can do), and no construction experience is required.
If you’d like to sponsor one or more beds at $424 each or $35/mo, here’s the donation link. An Army of Normal Folks doing this adds up fast!
If you’d like to help purchase bedding items for $16-41, here’s their Amazon registry.

If you’d like to explore serving on the Army of Normal Folks leadership team, message Alex Cortes at this link: https://www.givepulse.com/event/891084-army-activation-sleep-in-heavenly-peace-bed-build-for-kids-without-beds
And if your company/church/civic group/greek organization etc would be interested in sponsoring an entire build for your members to participate in ($5,000), message Alex Cortes and he’d love to connect.
