Mississippi John Hurt Upcoming Festival

“I shall not be moved” sang Mississippi John Hurt.

Mary Frances Hurt is honoring her grandfather’s spirit of faith and determination by hosting the 2026 Mississippi John Hurt Homecoming Festival on Saturday and Sunday, October 3-4, 2026, at the Mississippi John Hurt and Jerry Richardson Educational Center located at 1973 CR 109, Carrollton, Mississippi. Saturday’s events include a guitar workshop and open mic.

A spiritual program featuring Dorothy McClung and the West Singers spiritual group with Reverend Vicky West, followed by a Memorial Walk to the nearby Mississippi John Hurt gravesite will take place on Sunday. Visit the Mississippi John Hurt Foundation website for further information.
