The Golden Hour Concert Series launches with a captivating evening of contemporary music featuring violinist Jiwon Lee and a quartet, set in the intimate basement space of Tom Beckbe on the Oxford Square.
Inspired by the worldwide success of candlelit concert experiences, Golden Hour transforms nontraditional spaces into pop-up performance venues illuminated by the warm glow of LED candles. Each concert invites audiences to discover the magic of live music up close — in unique and unexpected settings.
The debut event embraces a garden party theme, welcoming guests into a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere where world-class musicianship meets community connection.

“Golden Hour is designed to reimagine how we experience live music — by creating an atmosphere that feels personal, enchanting, and unforgettable,” said Jiwon Lee. “It’s about transforming spaces and sharing music in ways that bring people together.”
Lee worked with the Lafayette Oxford Foundation for Tomorrow (LOFT) to secure a grant from the Mississippi Arts Commission to launch the project. “I was able to call on community partners including the Arts Council and LOFT to see the benefits of this project. While it adds to the artistic and cultural landscape of the community, it also activates spaces, creates employment opportunities for highly trained artists, and increases access to the arts,” added Lee.
Hosting the concerts in intimate spaces creates a new kind of experience where attendees feel part of the music, able to see the artists up close, and free of the barriers often created in a full-scale theatre setting.
