Those Darlins’ sophomore album, Screws Get Loose

New Album Screws Get Loose Out Soon

Those Darlins provide a different brand of country: catchy, yet undeniably, punk with the sensation of a really dirty garage somewhere in the Appalachians. Oh yeah and I forgot to mention, with three chicks who are brain- meltingly cute.

Hailing from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Nikki, Jessi, and Kelley Darlin will surely break your heart (and maybe even your bones.) Their first collection of anthems off their 2009 self- titled are fun and cheeky with songs such as, “Red Light Love,” “Wild One,” and “The Whole Damn Thing,” a song about getting wasted and eating an entire chicken in the middle of the night.

Now with one release behind them and touring with bands like Dan Auerbach (of The Black Keys), Deer Tick, King Khan & BBQ Show, Wanda Jackson, Jon Spence and crashing mega fests SXSW and Bonnaroo, the girls have finished their sophomore album, Screws Get Loose. This album reveals a more mature sound, with reflections of the pains and hardships of their pasts. More mature, yes, but without the loss of brew gulping tracks such as “Hives “and “Be Your Bro.”

The Darlins still breathe fierce country punk melodies but introduce more pop and even a gnarly stoner-esque jam, “Mystic Mind.”  Not for the weary hearted, Those Darlins shows will surely leave your foot stomping and hungover – a really damn fun time. Their infectious punkabilly tunes are an absolute must-see.  Scope them at Proud Larry’s January 27 or else you’re just really blowin’ it.
