The View From The Balcony: “The Practice of Gratitude”

In the beauty of the day, practice gratitude.

In the stillness of the night, practice gratitude.

In the ecstasy of love, practice gratitude.

In the throes of loneliness, practice gratitude.

In the crisp autumn wind, practice gratitude.

In the sting of winter’s cold, practice gratitude.

In the birth of a child, practice gratitude.

In the death of an elder, practice gratitude.

In the vigor of your youth, practice gratitude.

In the waning of your years, practice gratitude.

In the mirth of many friends, practice gratitude.

In the agony of loss, practice gratitude.

In the delight of creamy fudge, practice gratitude.

In the bitterness of broccoli, practice gratitude.

In the presence of a saint, practice gratitude.

In the company of a devil, practice gratitude.

Practice gratitude like this:

Dance in the rain.

Run with the wind.

Rejoice with an enemy.

Cry with a friend.

Light candles for prayers.

Burn sage in your home.

Whistle a tune.

Sing a loud song.

Break a bad rule.

Cook a pancake.

Wiggle like a fool,

Eat Frosted Flakes.

Walk through the woods.

Swim in the sea.

Go fly a kite.

Go climb a tree.

Hold someone’s hand.

Rub someone’s back.

Grow out your hair.

Soak in a bath.

Hug on a friend.

Ride in a boat.

Help someone up.

Bleat like a goat.

Pray on your knees.

Jump in some leaves.

Love on your child.

Play Born to Be Wild.

Drink a new beer.

Sip a new wine.

Brew some green tea.

Sit down and dine.

Loosen your tie.

Go with the flow.

Hop on a train.

See where you go.

In the breaking of dawn, practice gratitude.

In the setting of the sun, practice gratitude.

In the in/out of your breathing, practice gratitude.

In the beating of your heart, practice gratitude.

In the beauty of your soul, practice gratitude.

In all things, at all times, practice gratitude.

Practice gratitude, and Gratitude shall pitch her tent in your being,

and dwell with you forever.

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all!

…and that’s the view from The Balcony.
