Sonic Youth Guitarist Lee Ranaldo Playing Solo Show at Larrys June 23

The name Lee Ranaldo might not right any bells, but most anyone familiar with punk or indie rock will recognize Sonic Youth, the band he co-founded. The group formed in ’81 and still does the occasional show. For this evening though, you will be treated to Ranaldo’s solo efforts that first began in 1987. In 2004 he was ranked at 33 by Rolling Stone’s Greatest Guitarist list. Check out a single he released in 2014 below.

Sharing the bill will be Steve Gunn. Gunn drew attention as the guitarist for Kurt Vile as part of The Violators. He has since gone on to release his own solo work that he now tours across the country. The Local Voice Ligature
