Jamie Barnes – False Pretense
On Wednesday, May 25, the Oxford Police Department arrested Jamie Barnes(24 of Grenada, MS.) for false pretenses. On May 10, 2016, employees of Walmart reported someone using fake money to purchase two Visa prepaid cards for a total of $900.00. Video was reviewed and Barnes was found to be the suspect. Barnes has been arrested and was given a bond of $1,500.

Colby Virtue

Arrests:
Colby Virtue – Aggravated DUI
On Monday, May 23, 2016 Investigators of the Oxford Police Department charged Colby Virtue (23) of Southern Pines, North Carolina with Aggravated DUI.
On Saturday, May 21, 2016 officers responded to a call about a vehicle that was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane on U.S. 278. The vehicle crashed into another vehicle directly across from Waller Funeral Home. The suspect vehicle was driven by Colby Virtue. The victim’s car was occupied by five people. Some of the people in the victim’s car were seriously injured, not life threatening. An investigation for driving while impaired was conducted. It was determined that Colby was driving under the influence. Colby was charged with Aggravated DUI, No Liability Insurance, Driving On Wrong Side of Road, and his bond was set by Lafayette County Justice Court Judge at $2,500.00. Virtue did not sustain any significant injuries.

On May 14, 2016, Investigators of the Oxford Police Department arrested Jessica Smallie (20) and Staci Chapman (23) both of Panola, County for one count of Burglary each.
On April 21, 2016 Officers responded to 900 Whirpool Drive for a trespassing complaint. Through an investigation it was determined that Smallie and Chapman forcefully entered a roommate’s locked bedroom without permission and stole property from inside. Both were booked for Burglary and bond was set at $2,500.00.

Washington, Catrina

Catrina Washington – Grand Larceny
On May 12th the Oxford Police Department took a report of a theft that had already occurred at Walmart. The reporting party stated that an unknown female, later identified as Catrina Washington 52 of Oxford, took a bundle of twenty dollar bills from the service desk counter when the clerk turned her back. The bundle of twenties equaled $2,000.00. We were able to identify Washington after capturing her picture on surveillance as well as her car. On May 13th Washington was arrested for Grand Larceny, she was taken before Judge Mickey Avent for her Initial Appearance and her bond was set at $5,000.00.

Henderson, David
David Henderson – Burglary
On May 11th officers of the Oxford Police Department responded to a subject inside a business that was closed. The caller stated that they were in the office when they saw someone on the security cameras inside the business rummaging around. That person heard someone in the office and then ran. Once officers arrived in the area they found a person matching the description given by the caller. That man was identified as David Joseph Henderson. After speaking with business owners and watching camera footage it was determined that he went in several other businesses, The Levee, The Corner Bar & Rafters, after they were closed. On video you could see Henderson trying to take drinks and when he was stopped by police he had a stack of wrist bands in his pockets. Henderson was arrested for Burglary of a Commercial Building, he was taken before Judge Carolyn Bell for his Initial Appearance and his bond was set at $2,500.00.

Jimmy Evans – Grand Larceny

On Monday April 27th 2016, detectives were contacted by Coca Cola Inc. regarding recent thefts from vending machines in the Oxford area that spanned from September 2015 thru April 2016. The total amount stolen from the vending machines was $19,224. Due to photos of the suspect a positive identification was made and a warrant was issued for the arrest of Jimmy Evans age 67 of Potts Camp, MS who recently retired from Coca Cola Inc. Evans was using his employee key to unlock the machines and take the cash inside. Evans turned himself in on May 4th 2016 at the Oxford Police Department and was taken before Judge Bell for an initial appearance where a bond of $2,500 was set.

Marcus Hilliard – Burglary
On May 3, 2016, investigators of the Oxford Police Department charged Marcus Hilliard (34) of Oxford, Mississippi with two counts of Residential Burglary (97-17-23).
On April 1, 2016 officers responded to Falls Grove for an intruder of a residence. Officers arrived and the victim advised that a black male followed her home in a white car and force his way into the house. Once the male left, the victim stated her cell phone was gone. The suspect called his own cell phone from the victim’s cell phone after he stole it. The victim found the number through her phone records. The suspect’s number came back to Hilliard’s cell phone. The victim picked Hilliard from a photo lineup. On April 23, 2016 officers responded to North 14th Street for an intruder of a residence. Officers arrived and the victim advised that she left her house door unlocked for her boyfriend to return home. The suspect walked into the victim’s house and laid in her bed and began to kiss her. The victim opened her eyes and realized he was the guy that cut her lawn and not her boyfriend. After he left the house, witnesses saw the suspect leave in a white car. Marcus Hilliard was picked from a photo lineup by the victim. Hilliard was arrested and charged with two counts of Burglary (97-17-23) and his bond was set at $5,000.00.

Rotoya Draper

Rotoya Draper – Burglary
On May 3, 2016, Investigators of the Oxford Police Department arrested Rotoya Draper (21) of Panola, County for one count of Burglary 97-17-23.
On April 21, 2016 officers responded to 900 Whirpool Drive for a burglary. Through an investigation it was determined that Draper and some of her friends forcefully entered a roommate’s locked bedroom without permission and took several items. The victim saw some of her stolen items in these girls possession and she signed charges on them. Draper was booked for Burglary 97-17-23 and her bond was set at $2,500.00. There will be more arrests made in this case.

On Saturday 4/30/2016, Oxford Police Officers arrested Torrey Thompson 31 of Oxford. This was a result of a call that came through dispatch advising that an accident had occurred on Anchorage Road. Officers arrived and found Thompson to be under the influence and to be the driver of one of the vehicles involved. He was arrested on scene and his bond was set at $2,500.00.
