Ole Miss Baseball Tunes Up Before SEC Play

The next two weeks find Ole Miss Baseball wrapping up its nonconference series before opening SEC play with a visit to Tennessee. The Rebs are coming off a 2-1 series win over then-#2 Louisville, which instantly thrust the Rebs from No. 21 to No. 13 in Baseball America’s rankings. They moved from unranked to No. 17 in D1Baseball’s top 25, as well.

A trip to Conway, South Carolina this weekend will be a telling test for the Rebels. The Coastal Carolina Tournament will have Ole Miss playing against the top-25 host Chanticleers, in addition to Cincinnati and Ball State. Then, home series against Southeast Missouri and Grambling State, followed by a two-game trip to UAB.

Tate Blackman leads the team with a .524 BA, a .762 SLG and only one strikeout in 21 at-bats. Brady Bramlett and Sean Johnson have both gotten off to 2-0 starts, and closer Wyatt Short has earned three saves without earning a run. The Local Voice Ligature
