Obituary: Ollie Lee Carothers, Jr. (March 2, 1954–June 3, 2023)

Ollie Lee Carothers, Jr., the eldest child of Ollie and Gloria (Taylor) Carothers, Sr., was born March 2, 1954, in Lafayette County, MS.

Ollie professed a hope in Christ early in life and was baptized at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. He received his education from Oxford City Schools and enlisted in the United States Army in 1972.

Some of his favorite past times included watching western movies and shows, going to Wal-Mart, listening to old school music, and telling army stories.

On Saturday, June 3, 2023, Ollie passed away at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi in Oxford, Mississippi. Left to cherish his memories are his grandson, Jaden Carothers; siblings, Bobby Carothers, Ronnie Carothers, David (Dorothy) Carothers, and Coretta Carothers all of Oxford, MS; brother-in-law, Mack Vaughn of Oxford, MS; special friend, Lisa Howorth; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ollie was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Courtney Carothers, and four siblings, Arthur Carothers, Michael Carothers, Teresa Carothers, and Rita Vaughn.
