Mississippi Day of Giving October 20: Oxford Growler hosts Competition to Benefit OFF and YAC

The Mississippi Day of Giving is a statewide day to connect Mississippians with the charities that make an impact in their community.  On Thursday, October 20th as part of the Day of Giving, the Oxford Growler will host a competition benefiting the Oxford Film Festival and Yoknapatawpha Arts Council.

“This will be a great way to help two good causes while having fun with this new event to help raise money for the arts.” said Oxford Film Festival Director Melanie Addington.

The Oxford Growler, 265 North Lamar Blvd Suite Y, will host a Countdown Party encouraging from 6 p.m. to midnight on October 20th.  Different craft brewers from Mississippi will offer a special with the proceeds benefitting the charity.  Come and show your support 12 oz at a time while sampling beers from Chandelier, Lazy Magnolia, Lucky Town, Yuengling, Yalobusha, and Southern Prohibition.  Along with beer specials, there will be prizes given out throughout the evening including two tickets to New Orleans on Southwest Airlines, Satterfield Pottery, Oxford Film Fest and Yoknapatawpha Arts Council swag, a Locals gift card and much more.

“We are so excited that by working together, with the Oxford Film Festival and The Growler, we can keep the idea behind the Day of Giving in focus: that together as Mississippians we can make our community great!” shared Wayne Andrews, Director of the Arts Council.

Yoknapatawpha Arts Council: Founded in 1975 the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council remains committed to a diverse offering of artistic and cultural opportunities. Each year, YAC creates and delivers an exciting package of projects, programs and good works in the spirit of its mission to the community. Each year the staff, the board and volunteers work to present over 320 days of art programs ranging from student programs, exhibits by emerging artists, live theatre productions, concerts, classes, and independent film screenings.

Oxford Film Festival: The Oxford Film Festival celebrates the art of independent cinema. Through year round programming, the festival works to encourage filmmaking in Oxford and North Mississippi while growing understanding of cinema through screenings, workshops and educational programs, culminating in the annual five-day festival. This year’s festival will be the 14th to be put on. The Local Voice Ligature
