Man Extradited from Leflore County Detention Center for Commercial Burglary Near Oxford, Mississippi

On March 1, 2023, a walk-in report was filed at the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office in regards to property being stolen from a commercial building on County Road 162. The reporting party identified the perpetrator as Montie Robbins

An investigation was conducted and found Montie had pawned the items in multiple pawnshops across Northern Mississippi. Investigators discovered, Montie was in the Leflore County Detention Center. Investigators filed an affidavit for commercial burglary and applied for an arrest warrant.

Deputies then went to Leflore County and extradited him back to Lafayette County. Montie is currently being held at the Lafayette County Detention Center with a bond set at $5,000.

About the Author

The Office of Sheriff is a four year term filled through an at-large election process. Duties of the Sheriff involve two primary areas; law enforcement of the county and administrative. The law enforcement duties are to keep the peace in Lafayette County while administrative duties consist primarily of serving as the county jailor. Due to the growth of Lafayette County, the Sheriff Department now employs 26 deputies working four 12 hour shifts.
