Lafayette County Sheriff Arrests Man for Failing to Register as a Sex Offender
On January 6, 2023, investigators with the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report from an outside agency regarding a sex offender living in the area that has failed to register with Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators began an investigation regarding the report, and a warrant was issued for the arrest of, Joshua Rowland, 42 years old, for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.
Rowland was arrested at his home and transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center.
Rowland appeared before a Justice Court Judge and his bond was set at $10,000.00. Rowland has now been released on bond and has registered with the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office.
Lafayette County Sheriff The Office of Sheriff is a four year term filled through an at-large election process. Duties of the Sheriff involve two primary areas; law enforcement of the county and administrative. The law enforcement duties are to keep the peace in Lafayette County while administrative duties consist primarily of serving as the county jailor. Due to the growth of Lafayette County, the Sheriff Department now employs 26 deputies working four 12 hour shifts.
