John Cofield’s Photo of the Week: “The Cypress Scenery”
Ole Miss grew, and Oxford grew, and so in turn did the airport. And in doing so Oxford lost a beautiful spot near the intersection of College Hill Road and Old Sardis Road… the cypress scenery. As a kid, Dad pointed it out to me and I stayed glued to the car window as we rode by. Later, to know it was gone, I thought of Dad.
John Cofield John Cofield grew up in Oxford. He is a local historian and author. John is the son of renowned University photographer, Jack Cofield. His grandfather, J. R. "Colonel" Cofield, was William Faulkner's personal photographer, and for decades was Ole Miss annual photographer. Four generations of the Cofield family have contributed to Oxford's pictorial history.
