John Cofield’s Photo of the Week: “Parks Barber Shop and the Army Surplus”
Today you’d be looking at Renasant Bank and Bouré restaurant. In 1961, the Army Surplus store was a draw for every wanna-be soldier in the county. Many a father took many a son for their first big-boy haircut at Parks Barber Shop where Ernest Oliver can be seen manning “First Chair.” And above, working under a single hanging light bulb is none other than William Faulkner‘s uncle, Judge J. W. T. Falkner, Jr, himself.
