FNB Oxford and Oxford University Bank to sponsor 2020-2021 season for Theatre Oxford

Theatre Oxford is delighted to announce that Oxford’s locally owned banks, FNB Oxford and OUB Oxford, will be season sponsors for 2020-2021. These generous donations enable the local troupe to get the ball rolling on its new year of productions, which began August 7 and 8 with The Complete History of Theatre (Abridged) by Matt Thompson, directed by Rene Pulliam, and continues in October with It’s My Party!, written by Ann Timmons and presented jointly with the League of Women Voters of Oxford.

This year begins a new initiative by the group in fundraising. Julie Kaye Fanton, Vice President of Theatre Oxford, explained, “We don’t want to be known as a group who only arrives at a business with its hand out for a donation. We also have money to spend in the community.” Theatre Oxford is pledging to always shop for its supplies for construction, paint, props, concessions and costumes at locally owned businesses first. The process already began in preparation for the first show when Fanton purchased prop items at Chaney’s, Neilson’s, Square Alterations, Material Girlz, Sneed’s Hardware and Pitner Office Supplies. The theatre group has sent a letter explaining the program with stickers enclosed for the local businesses to display & show support. Fanton hopes that she will see these stickers displayed as she shops around town this year.

Fanton is thrilled to have FNB Oxford and OUB Oxford as the first season supporters. In addition to this strong local support, Theatre Oxford is partially supported by grants from the Mississippi Arts Commission, the National Endowment for the Arts, and South Arts.
