 At the Oxford Community Garden & Oxford Skate Park by the Old Armory on University Ave & Bramlett


Celebrate your body, mind, and spirit and show you love the little piece of Earth we call Oxford, Mississippi.

It’s party in the park all day long!  Gaining Ground invites you to spend the day in the park with music and outdoor activities hosted by groups from around town, county, and campus.  Southern Star and Blue Laurel Yoga studios come together on Earth Day to bring you Yoga Earth at the park.

6:00AM           Sunrise Meditation and Yoga

8:00AM           Tai Chi

9:30AM           Yoga for Beginners

11:00AM         ¡OLE! Pickup game of Fútbol hosted by the Ole Miss Soccer Club

12:30PM         Master Gardeners of Lafayette County bring you a series of educational workshops, with bees, worms, tool care and container gardening

-Chalk drawing on the Skate Park for kids

2:00PM           Drum Circle by the Skate Park

-Tea Party with Little Critter and the double-decker bus tour of Oxford.  Lafayette County & Oxford Public Library.  Pre-registation required.  662-234-5751.

3:30PM           Companion Planting workshop hosted by the Oxford Community Garden.

-Yoga for Kids (Ages 5+)

5:00PM           The Oxford Skate Park and Community Garden, Yokna Bottoms Farm, and Honey Bee Bakery bring you Plot to Plate: a Picnic in the Park.  Fresh, local, organic food specially prepared for you and your family and friends.  Come out for a seasonal cooking demonstration and a tasty meal, with live music performances by Marlena Jarjoura and Kelley Norris.

7:00PM           Sunset Meditation and Yoga

8:00PM           The party’s over.  Lights come on in the skate park for nighttime skating and footbag AKA the after-party.


Bring your family and a picnic lunch, as well as your skateboard, guitar, drum, football, frisbee, soccerball, footbag, dog (on leash) yoga matt, girlfriend, boyfriend, or buddy.  Leave your beer at home.  It’s a Sunday.
