City of Oxford, Mississippi Board of Aldermen Agenda – Tuesday, June 21, 2016

Meeting is at 5:00 pm

Notice that certain aldermen will be included in the meeting via teleconference, subject to City of Oxford Code of Ordinances Section 2-82.


  1. Call to order.
  2. Adopt the agenda for the meeting.
  3. Mayor’s Report.
  4. Authorize approval of minutes of the regular meeting on June 7, 2016.
  5. Authorize approval of accounts for all city departments.
  6. Consider consent agenda:
    1. Request permission for two officers to attend the MS Association of the FBI National Academy legal update training on August 1-4, 2016 in Gulfport, MS at an estimated cost of $1,578.00. (Joey East)
    2. Request permission for Superintendent to attend TVA All Customer Rate Review Meeting on August 3, 2016 in Franklin, TN at an estimated cost of $210.00. (Rob Neely)
    3. Request permission for Superintendent to attend the Urban Forest Conference on July 28th-29th, 2016 in Gulfport, MS at an estimated cost of $400.00. (Billy Lamb)
    4. Request permission to hire a Communications Officer in the Oxford Police Department. (Braxton Tullos)
    5. Request permission to accept the resignation of several part-time and seasonal workers. (Braxton Tullos)
    6. Request permission to accept the resignation of a Firefighter in the Oxford Fire Department. (Braxton Tullos)
    7. Request approval of step increases for two employees in the Buildings & Grounds Department. (Braxton Tullos)
    8. Request permission to hire two Patrolmen in the Oxford Police Department. (Braxton Tullos)
    9. Request permission to accept the resignation of a flatbed driver in the Environmental Services Department. (Braxton Tullos)
  7. Meredith Rawl from Family Crisis Services to give an update on the 2016 Fourth of July festivities.
  8. Oxford-Lafayette Humane Society to address the board regarding building use.
  9. Announce a vacancy on the Planning Commission.
  10. Adopt a retirement resolution for John Levy in the Oxford Fire Department.(Cary Sallis)
  11. Adopt a retirement resolution for Bobby Kelly in the Oxford Police Department. (Joey East)
  12. Request permission for Bobby Kelly to purchase his service weapon for $1.00 as per state statute. (Joey East)
  13. Consider a request to loan the “Oxford on the Hill” painting by John McCrady to the Mississippi Museum of Art in Jackson for the celebration of Mississippi’s bicentennial of statehood.
  14. Request approval of step increases and transfers in the Environmental Services Department. (Braxton Tullos/Amberlyn Liles)
  15. Request approval of updated contract with Kronos for payroll tax services. (Braxton Tullos)
  16. Discuss exercise equipment installation at Stone Park. (Braxton Tullos)
  17. Request permission to re-advertise for Financial Software in the City Clerk’s Office. (Ashley Atkinson)
  18. Request approval for a Preliminary Plat for Glen Alden Subdivision. (Judy Daniel)
  19. Request approval to rezone +/- 1.8 acres from (RC) Multi-Unit Residential to (NB) Neighborhood Business for property located at the intersection of Anchorage Road and Highway 314 (southeast corner). (Ben Requet)
  20. Third reading and possible vote on proposed annexation ordinance. (Pope Mallette)
  21. Discuss a request for a revocable license for the placement of two “Little Library” structures. (Bart Robinson)
  22. Accept recommendation from Oxford Park Commission board to accept bids for architect services for Woodlawn Park Phase I. (Bart Robinson)
  23. Authorize amendment to Lease Contract for Fire Station One on McElroy Drive.(Bart Robinson)
  24. Discuss a request for a revocable license to Capital Growth Buchalter, Inc. for a driveway. (Bart Robinson)
  25. Consider executive session.
  26. Adjourn.
