City of Oxford, Mississippi Board of Aldermen Agenda for May 19, 2015

  1. Call to order.
  2. Adopt the agenda for the meeting.
  3. Mayor’s Report.
  4. Authorize approval of minutes of the regular meeting on May 5, 2015.
  5. Authorize approval of accounts for all city departments.
  6. Consider consent agenda:
    1. Request approval William Thompson as an intern with the Police Department. (Joey East)
    2. Request approval for one dispatcher to attend Basic Recertification Course for Dispatchers in Oxford, MS with a cost of $225.00. (Joey East)
    3. Request approval for two officers to attend ARMS training in Nashville, TN on June 3-5, 2015 with a cost of $2,420.79. (Joey East)
    4. Request approval for six SRO Officers to attend SRO training in Biloxi, MS on June 7-12, 2015 with a cot of $1,476.00 which will come from the DARE budget. (Joey East)
    5. Request approval for one officer to attend the National Mounted Training and Tactics Instructor School in Mobile, AL on May 18-24, 2015 with a cost of $1,051.00. (Joey East)
    6. Accept resignation of Kenneth Whitfield as a parking enforcement officer and authorize advertisement for a replacement. (Braxton Tullos)
    7. Accept resignation of John Martin as a part-time officer in the Police Department. (Braxton Tullos)
    8. Authorize promotion in the Planning Department. (Braxton Tullos)
    9. Authorize advertisement for a Sports Turf Specialist at FNC. (Braxton Tullos)
    10. Authorize employment of seasonal employees at FNC Park. (Braxton Tullos)
    11. Authorize employment of seasonal employees in Sanitation Department. (Braxton Tullos)
    12. Accept resignation in Building & Grounds Department and authorize advertisement for a replacement. (Braxton Tullos)
    13. Authorize employment of seasonal workers in the Building & Grounds Department. (Braxton Tullos)
    14. Approve travel for staff member in the Planning Department to attend Historic Preservation Training in Jackson, MS on June 10-12, 2015 with a cost of $485.00. (Andrea Correll)
  7. Leadership Lafayette to discuss a Visit Oxford app. (Kinney Ferris)
  8. Approve Oxford University Transit agreement for the Retreat. (Tim Akers)
  9. Request approval of fireworks at Oxford Country Club on 4th of July. (Margaret Baker)
  10. Second reading and public hearing of Case 1947 to establish underlying agricultural zoning beneath the Blackberry PUD overlay containing +/- 234.8 acres bounded on the east by Christman Drive and Molly Barr Road to the south. (Andrea Correll)
    1. Consider recommendation of Planning Department and Orion Planning Group to place a moratorium on rezoning requests and requests for special exceptions for residential use in business districts. (Andrea Correll)
  11. First reading for Case #1955- Request by Todd Paine and Mac Montieth for conditional rezoning of a total of 13.292 acres which includes 11.681 acres from (RA) Single Family (part of PPIN 5067) and 1.612 acres from (RE) Residential Estate (part of PPIN 5042) to (RC) Multi-Unit Residential for property located at 1308 Chickasaw Road and 1902 Molly Barr Road.   12. Request approval of preliminary plat for Oxford Farms Phase II a 3 lot subdivision located in 100 and 200 block of Farm view Drive at the intersection with proposed YMCA Drive. (Andrea Corell)
  13. Adopt resolution reviving the twinning relationship between Oxford and the City of Aubigny Sur Nere, established in 1956.
  14. Accept bids for garbage truck chassis. (Amberlyn Liles)
  15. Approve Engineering Agreement for W.L. Burle engineering for Lagoon Rehabilitation at the waste water treatment plant. (Reanna Mayoral)
  16. Discuss old RSVP building, amend budget and authorize permission to advertise for roof replacement. (Reanna Mayoral)
  17. Discuss Jackson Row request. (Reanna Mayoral)
  18. Approve user agreement with Passport Parking for mobile payment application for parking meters. (Matt Davis)
  19. Approve change order for two additional shade structures at FNC Park in the amount of $11,990.00. (Brad Freeman)
  20. Approve budget amendments. (Lisa Carwyle)
  21. Discuss receiving quotes for painting of City Hall. (Billy Lamb)
  22. Authorize consultant, Larry Montgomery, for the Court Department. (Braxton Tullos)
  23. Consider executive session.
  24. Adjourn
