Abbeville, Mississippi Man Arrested for Aggravated Assault After Shooting
On Monday, February 24, 2020, investigators with the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department arrested Jody Lewis Jr., (22 Abbeville, Mississippi) for Aggravated Assault.
Lewis was involved in an altercation which led to the victim being shot at with a firearm. This occurred in the College Hill-Abbeville area. There have no reported injuries at this time.
Jody Lewis Jr. was given a bond of $50,000.00 and is being held at the Lafayette County Detention Center.
Lafayette County Sheriff The Office of Sheriff is a four year term filled through an at-large election process. Duties of the Sheriff involve two primary areas; law enforcement of the county and administrative. The law enforcement duties are to keep the peace in Lafayette County while administrative duties consist primarily of serving as the county jailor. Due to the growth of Lafayette County, the Sheriff Department now employs 26 deputies working four 12 hour shifts.
