The Oxford School District has once again been honored with the prestigious Beacon Award from the Mississippi School Boards Association (MSBA). This recognition highlights the district’s continued excellence in student achievement.
The Beacon Award is a key distinction in the MSBA Lighthouse School Leader Awards Program, which celebrates school districts that demonstrate exceptional student performance on required state assessments under Mississippi’s accountability system. To qualify for the Beacon Award, a district must meet the following criteria:
- Maintain an “A” rating under the state accountability model
- Ensure all schools within the district are rated “C” or higher
- Remain in good standing as defined by the Mississippi Department of Education Office of Accreditation
Oxford School District has consistently met these high standards, earning the Beacon Award every year since the implementation of the state’s current accountability model—excluding the years impacted by COVID-related exemptions.
“This award is a testament to the dedication of our educators, students, and families who work tirelessly to maintain academic excellence,” said Superintendent Bradley Roberson. “Our school board’s leadership and commitment to student success continue to make Oxford a model district in Mississippi.”
The award was presented at the MSBA Annual Conference, where school leaders from across the state gathered to celebrate outstanding achievements in education. The recognition affirms OSD’s steadfast commitment to fostering a high-quality learning environment and continuous improvement in student outcomes.
