The bed build on Saturday September 12 will be the largest that the local Sleep in Heavenly Peace chapter has done
The Oxford chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) is excited to announce that Lowe’s is providing a $12,500 sponsorship to build over 50 beds for kids without them in Lafayette County.
SHP volunteers and Lowe’s associates across the Mid-South region will be building these beds together on Saturday September 12th from 8-11am at the Old Armory Pavilion (1801 University Ave, Oxford).
The bed build is a part of Sleep in Heavenly Peace’s national build day called “Bunks Across America” where hundreds of our local chapters build beds for kids without them on the same day.
The Oxford chapter is fortunate to be selected as one of the 40 sites nationwide where Lowe’s is providing this generous sponsorship to build 50+ beds.
To date, SHP’s 400 chapters have built over 350,000 beds for kids without them. Around 3-4% of kids in America are bedless, which means that there could be upwards of 282 kids in Lafayette County who are.
Since its founding in March, SHP’s Oxford chapter has built and delivered 72 beds with the help of around 150 Oxonions who’ve rallied behind this cause.
This Bunks Across America build will be the chapter’s largest build to date in both beds and volunteers. 70 volunteers were at our last build in July. This time we’re shooting for 100.

Lowe’s will be providing lunch around 11:15/30am once we’re all packed up and 75 complimentary Bunks Across America t-shirts will be available.
