Altercation on South 18th Street in Oxford Leads to an Arrest and Hold by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement

On August 2, 2025, officers with the Oxford Police Department responded to a call on South 18th Street. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, who said he had been hit in the head with a chair. The victim was transported for medical care, but at this time is expected to make a full recovery.

After speaking with the victim and other witnesses, the suspect was identified as Edwin Oseguera, 36, of Oxford, Mississippi. Oseguera was detained and taken into custody.

Oseguera was charged with Aggravated Assault. Oseguera was taken before a Municipal Court judge for his initial bond hearing.

A hold was placed on Oseguera by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
