On May 8th, 2025, a detective with the Oxford Police Department spoke with a victim whose phone had been stolen. The victim also noticed money being taken out of her account.
After speaking with the victim further, detectives were able to identify Cornelius Humphries, 18, of Oxford, Mississippi as the suspect.
Humphries was arrested and charged with False Pretense. Humphries was taken before a Municipal Court judge for his initial bond hearing.
The Oxford Police Department is housed 715 Molly Barr Road. The department has more than 70 full-time officers and staff and provides a wide range of protection and enforcement services.
