Robert Wayne Carter, 57 years old of Oxford, Mississippi.
On August 24, 2025, Deputies with the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office received a call for service in the area of Highway 6 East. The caller advised that they were assaulted and needed medical assistance.
Emergency Medical Services and Deputies arrived on scene and transported the victim to the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Mississippi. Investigators were called to the Hospital to begin an investigation regarding the assault.
A suspect was identified as Robert Wayne Carter, 57 years old of Oxford, Mississippi. Due to the injuries the victim sustained as a result of the assault, Robert Wayne Carter was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault- Manifesting Extreme Indifference to Human Life.
Carter was transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center on August 24, 2025. Carter appeared before a Justice Court Judge on Monday, August 25, 2025, and received a $25,000.00 bond.
The victim received medical treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.
