On July 13, 2025, an officer with the Oxford Police Department responded to a call from a business on Jackson Avenue. The caller reported that someone had stolen from their car.
After speaking with he caller and surrounding businesses, the suspect was identified as George Larry Gillom, 62, of Oxford, Mississippi. Gillom was detained and taken into custody.
Gillom was charged with Commercial Burglary. Gillom was taken before a Municipal Court judge for his initial bond hearing.
The Oxford Police Department is housed 715 Molly Barr Road. The department has more than 70 full-time officers and staff and provides a wide range of protection and enforcement services.
