On May 12, 2024, the Oxford Police Department responded to a single vehicle accident that occurred on Highway 6 near Buddy East Parkway. Open alcohol containers were discovered within the vehicle. After investigation, Lawrence Young, 32, of Oxford, Mississippi was arrested and charged with DUI 4th due to prior DUI convictions.
Young was taken before a Municipal Court judge for his initial bond hearing and was issued a $25,000 bond.
The Oxford Police Department is housed 715 Molly Barr Road. The department has more than 70 full-time officers and staff and provides a wide range of protection and enforcement services.
The Police Department has a community-oriented policing philosophy and provides around-the-clock patrols.
