On April 18, 2023, the Oxford Police Department responded to a report of a careless driver on Highway 7 South. While conducting the traffic stop, officers found a handgun in the vehicle.
Christopher Jones, 35, of Memphis, Tennessee, was arrested and charged with Possession of Firearm by a convicted felon.
Jones was taken before a Lafayette County Justice Court judge for his initial bond hearing and issued a $10,000 bond.
The Oxford Police Department is housed 715 Molly Barr Road. The department has more than 70 full-time officers and staff and provides a wide range of protection and enforcement services.
