Two Mississippians Charged with Attempting to Escape Lafayette County Detention Center

On August 14, 2025, Investigators with the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office received information from the Lafayette County Detention Center regarding a plan for an escape attempt.

During the investigation, Investigators spoke with witnesses and gathered information regarding the plot.

As a result of the investigation, Mark Montgomery, 48 years old of Greenville, Mississippi, was arrested and charged with Conspiracy to Commit a Crime (Escape or Attempted Escape).

Christina Willis, an inmate currently being housed in the Lafayette County Detention Center, was also charged with conspiracy to Commit a Crime (Escape or Attempted Escape).

Montgomery appeared before a Justice Court Judge on Saturday, August 16, 2025, and was issued a $50,000.00 bond. Montgomery is currently being held at the Detention Center awaiting additional Federal Charges.

Willis’ charges were added to her original bond, however she is being held pending a Bond Hearing for her original charges.
