On June 11, 2021, the Oxford Police Department responded to a business in the 100 block of Courthouse Square in reference to a sexual battery incident. The suspect, later identified as Duane Kelley, 42 of Philadelphia, Mississippi, was arrested and charged with Sexual Battery.
Kelley was given a $25,000 bond by a Lafayette County Justice Court judge.
The Oxford Police Department is housed 715 Molly Barr Road. The department has more than 70 full-time officers and staff and provides a wide range of protection and enforcement services.
The Police Department has a community-oriented policing philosophy and provides around-the-clock patrols.
