Beginning Monday, March 30, 2026, the Oxford Park Commission, on behalf of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen, will implement a new standardized check-in system for all indoor areas at the Activity Center Campus.
According to Oxford Park Commission Director Seth Gaines, this update is designed to improve safety, accountability, and overall facility operations while maintaining a welcoming environment for all users.
Key points to know:
- All visitors must check in before entering indoor spaces, including gyms, classrooms, fitness areas, and lounge spaces.
- Most exterior doors will remain locked, with access provided through the new check-in process.
- Users with smartphones can scan posted QR codes on signs around the Activity Center Campus to receive a temporary access code.
- Users without smartphones can check in at the front desk in the main hallway of the Ulysses “Coach” Howell Activity Center.
- “Tailgating,” propping doors open, or sharing access credentials is not permitted.
- Information collected is used only for safety, incident response, and operational purposes — it will not be sold or used for marketing.
- Private rentals remain exempt during periods when facilities are closed to the public.
- ADA accommodations are available for anyone needing assistance with the check-in process.
“As with any operational change, there may be adjustments and minor delays during the initial rollout,” Gaines said. “We kindly ask for your patience and cooperation as we implement this system. These steps are being taken to enhance the safety and welfare of all who use our recreation facilities.”
