April Slate (24 of Oxford, Mississippi).
On Saturday, October 4, 2025, around 12:30 pm, Oxford Police officers were conducting an investigation into a report of a stolen tablet from a local hotel room in the 100 block of Heritage Drive.
During the on-scene inquiry, an officer attempted to speak with an individual, later identified as April Slate (24 of Oxford, Mississippi), who was connected to the theft.
Slate attempted to leave and then struck an officer multiple times. After a brief struggle, officers detained the suspect. EMS responded and evaluated those involved. The officer received facial injuries and was treated.
Slate is charged with simple assault on a law enforcement officer and petit larceny.
She was transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center, where she is awaiting a bond hearing by the Municipal Court Judge.
