Oxford School District is proud to celebrate the Oxford Middle School Robotics Team, “The Cookie Monsters,” for advancing to the World Robotics Championship in Dallas, Texas this May.
This outstanding achievement marks the first time that a team from Oxford has qualified for this prestigious international competition. This milestone reflects months of problem-solving, strategic thinking, and determination by the team.
“The Cookie Monsters” team includes the following Oxford Middle School students: Dylan Barnett, William James, Sagan Karthikeyan, and Andrew Steimle. Their team is led by Conwill Cox, Oxford Middle School computer science and engineering teacher and robotics coach.
“Making it to the World Robotics Championship has been a goal of our organization for the past several years . . . I am so proud of my students for accomplishing this milestone!” Mrs. Cox said. “While at the World Championship, I really hope they forge connections with others who are just as passionate as they are about robotics and technology. I hope this experience stays with them and helps them to realize that they really can accomplish anything they set their minds to.”
They will compete alongside other top robotics teams from across Mississippi, the United States, and nearly 20 different countries, including Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, Germany, India, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, Thailand, Türkiye, the United Kingdom, and Vietnam.
Oxford School District wishes the team continued success and the best of luck as they represent our school and community on the global stage.
