An investigator from the Oxford Police Department received a call on February 5, 2025, from a local business in the 1400 block of University Avenue, concerning an employee being caught stealing from the business.
The business owner had noticed items missing, and decided to investigate. While investigating, the owner discovered Kerry Pettis, 43, of Oxford, Mississippi had stolen items from the business totalling over $5,000.
Pettis was arrested and charged on one count of Embezzlement. He was taken before a Municipal Court judge for his initial bond hearing.
The Oxford Police Department is housed 715 Molly Barr Road. The department has more than 70 full-time officers and staff and provides a wide range of protection and enforcement services.
