Oxford Man Arrested after Cameras Found in Short Term Rental Property

On December 19, 2025, Deputies with the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a hidden camera located in a short term rental property in Lafayette County.

After an investigation was conducted on scene, Charles Collier was asked to speak with investigators about the incident.

Subsequently, Charles Thomas Collier (58 year old) of Oxford, Mississippi was arrested and charged with Violation of Privacy [97-29-63] on December 19, 2025.

Collier appeared before a Justice Court Judge on Saturday, December 20, 2025 and was issued a $75,000.00 bond.

The Office of Sheriff is a four year term filled through an at-large election process. Duties of the Sheriff involve two primary areas; law enforcement of the county and administrative. The law enforcement duties are to keep the peace in Lafayette County while administrative duties consist primarily of serving as the county jailor. Due to the growth of Lafayette County, the Sheriff Department now employs 26 deputies working four 12 hour shifts.
